I joined brierlly hill gym a few weeks ago with my son and we love it, there is a member of staff called omari who is so helpful and always is happy to help and talk to you, he has always got a smile and even if he is busy he makes time for a hello,I can’t fault this gym.

Pretend they have internal issues and hope you forget about your refund they owe.

I cancelled my membership in October, last payment was taken in November and an email from their customer service team stated I have no more fees due. However, they continued to charge me for the next two months. After bringing this to their attention they refunded me for 1 of 2 payments. I brought this to their attention again and was told it was on its way within 7-10 days. After 3 MONTHS of me emailing them still no luck getting this refund. However... Once I contacted citizens advice and was informed I could take them to the small claims court for the refund, expenses, and hassle caused, I sent their customer service team a formal complaint and told them I will be taking further action and included my evidence of the claim I have. Miraculously, a week later the issue was sorted and I have my second refund. My local trading standards office has been informed of their shady practices and hopefully anyone who is dealing with a similar issue will know you can take them to court, and given you have the evidence, you have a good chance of winning.

Transferred to JD, not told, charged

Closed my gym during lockdown, transferred my direct debit to JD gyms and didnt tell me. Ive never been to JD gyms and have been charged four time, no one responds to emails and the gym is not even open to call in or ring. I just want my money back, have cancelled my direct debit which they advised not to do on their website, why? so you can keep taking my money while youre closed. Get fuked!

Inconsistent. Poor Customer Service.

I was previously a member, I left because of the poor customer care and seemingly disregard of customer service from staff. I recently took out a membership again, which was cancelled within 24 hours. The branch manager decided to ignore my emails to confirm my request for cancellation had been sent. To date this never came, so my efforts to cancel were escalated via their head office. This just cemented my initial poor experience or staff at that branch.

AVOID FOR THE GOOD OF YOUR HEALTH

One session on the£5 first month.. it's not for me.. but god help you if you try to cancel.. its impossible-- email after email, text after text.. call after call .. I tried to cancel one week after joining.. This will end up in court!!! They should come with a health warning and they do not respect the law and 14 day distance selling rules..

Nightmare to leave

Nightmare to leave! Suspended membership for 3 months due to Covid / no classes. 33 days before end of membership freeze ends / next direct debit due I fill out form to cancel membership, well within contract 30 day notice period. They now email to confirm next direct debit due Mid December And my membership will finish in 2 months. Not sure how this complies with me having given 30 days notice. Leaves a bad taste. I don’t feel they treat their customers fairly.

AVOID at all costs

Please avoid this gym at all costs. I have been trying to cancel my membership for months and it is impossible. I am on a monthly rolling contract - I have completed the cancellation form on the app and it states my account is not recognised (they still manage to take monthly payments) I have phoned Harlands who said they were unable to cancel and I had to go to a branch instead. I visited the branch and they stated only Harlands could cancel it. Nobody responds to my emails or tickets. I am tempted to cancel my DD but am afraid I will just get hounded afterwards. Xercise4Less have done nothing to help me. I would rather a attend a more costly gym in the future than a cheap one with such bad customer service - it’s just not worth it.
